This project was shortlisted for a competition to design a temporary pavilion for the Lightbox Gallery in Woking. The brief asked for a summer structure that could be assembled on the canal-side courtyard from panels prefabricated by the competition organizers in London. Our response tackled the inherent logistical challenge of the competition brief with ingenuity and humour. How would the prefabricated materials be transported to site and where would they be stored for the other 9 months of the year? The final design utilized a wide-beam barge shell with a lightweight convertible roof. Built on the canal in Hackney it would travel to Woking and moor alongside the gallery before touring the county off-season on outreach work with schools.
