This Derwent London property faces the bustling Leather Lane market. HK were appointed to design a refurbishment of the office space to Cat A level.
The original structure operated as the assaying department for Johnson Matthey’s bullion processes in the buildings adjacent – hence the name ‘Sweeps’. The structure was extensively refurbished by AHMM in 2007 re-setting 3 levels behind an Art Deco facade. HK stripped the interior to accentuate the concrete and steel structure, replaced cores, renewed finishes and lighting, and designed a new entrance portal connecting the building to the neighbouring courtyard.
